Demonstrators plan to picket in Evanston Saturday at a movie theater chain whose CEO donated to a controversial measure in California banning same-sex marriage. Cinemark CEO Alan Stock gave nearly $10,000 in support of the campaign for "Proposition 8." Protest organizer Andy Thayer of Chicago says movie patrons should know that.

THAYER: If he's going to be supporting hate, well then people should support firms that maybe don't hire someone that is so divisive and so bellingerently in favor of discrimination.

Cinemark officials did not return phone calls seeking comment. However, in a written statement, spokesman James Meredith said individual contributions do not reflect company policy or positions.
