EQUAL RIGHTS & NON-DISCRIMINATION

Supreme Court Day of Decision

7pm Roscoe & Halsted The Night The Court Decides

GLN permalink 6-16-2013

Sometime within the next two weeks, at 9 AM Central Time on a weekday, the federal Supreme Court will announce its most important LGBT rights decisions of this decade.

That night, in cities across the country including Chicago, people will protest or celebrate the Court's decisions.

The Court will decide whether or not to uphold, in whole or in part, California's Proposition 8 and Section 3 of the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

Specifically at issue are state-wide bans on same-sex marriage (Prop 8) and whether the Federal government can refuse to give equal rights to married same-sex couples in those states that currently allow our marriages (Section 3 of DOMA).

Be part of this historic moment in LGBT history! In Chicago people will rally at 7 PM at the corner of Roscoe & Halsted Streets, followed by a march out of Boystown.
