Join the LGBT Feeder March for the Big March 19th Anti-War Protest!

The Gay Liberation Network (formerly Chicago Anti-Bashing Network) invites all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered folks and supporters to join us in an LGBT feeder march to the big March 19th protest on the 2nd anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

Our theme will be "$80 Billion for AIDS - NOT for War & Occupation!"

Why march?

--- While both parties plan to vote $80 BILLION+ to fund war and occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan, AIDS in Africa has reached pandemic levels.

--- $80 BILLION more for war, while here in the U.S., anti-gay "abstinence only" sex education and other "faith-based" boondoggles steal funds from programs that used to lead a scientific approach to fighting AIDS. Vital programs for the LGBT community are held hostage by ideologues in the Bush administration.

--- Bush twangs on about "freedom" in Iraq, yet attacks the civil liberties of LGBT people here at home by backing anti-gay constitutional amendments.

The Plan

We will meet at 11 am, SHARP, Saturday, March 19th in front of Cardinal George's residence at the corner of North Avenue & State Street. After tea & crumpets with the Cardinal, we will march down the sidewalk on Lake Shore Drive local and join the main march at 12 noon at Oak Street and Michigan. Carrying banners and signs in proximity to busy Lake Shore Drive, in the richest area of the city, our message will be VERY visible!!

Please help build support for the feeder march by circulating flyers for it.

For the Big March 19th Anti-War / Pro-Civil Liberties Protest

Pack the Courtroom in Defense of the Right to Protest!

When: Wednesday, March 9 - 10:30 AM

Where: Federal Building, Room 1225

219 S. Dearborn

The March 19th Chicago Coalition has been in a protracted permit fight with the City of Chicago for the right to protest on the 2nd anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq. On March 20, 2003 the City arrested hundreds of protesters and passersby, and since then has refused to grant reasonable permit requests to protest the continuing occupation of Iraq and these illegal arrests.

The Coalition will be in Federal court Wednesday, March 9th for a pivotal hearing to determine if we will get a permit for this year's protest on the 2nd anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq. The hearing will be in Judge Hibbler's courtroom, 219 S. Dearborn, Room 1225, at 10:30 am, Wednesday, March 9 (press conference at 10 am in the lobby). Stand up and be counted in the defense of civil liberties. Help pack the courtroom on March 9th!
